Dr Abhi Varshney |
BSc, MBBS (Qld), FRACGP
Dr Abhi Varshney is one of the founding doctors of the Bowen Hills Medical Centre. Locally trained, Dr Abhi is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and winner of the 2009 RACGP Registrar of the Year Award, which is a national award acknowledging Dr Abhi's commitment to GP training. Dr Abhi is a specialist General Practitioner with interests in preventive health, workplace injuries, sports medicine, musculoskeletal injuries/rehabilitation, skin cancer medicine and mental health. Dr Abhi served as the Queensland Reds Rugby Union team Doctor from 2012 to 2015. |

Dr Matthew McLean
MBBS,FRACGP,BA,B.AppSci
Dr. McLean grew up in Brisbane and went to QUT and the University of Queensland for his training. He began medicine in 2006, down the road at the RBWH, and has worked in many rural locations. He has a wealth of experience in medicine. He was grateful to work for over nine years at the East Brisbane Medical Centre, and is starting in 2022 at the Bowen Hills Medical Centre. He enjoys all areas of general practice. His interests are chronic disease management, diagnosis, prevention, men's health, chronic organ disease, but specifically liver disease. Dr McLean performs minor procedures, such as skin lesion/lump/bump removal, and Implanon insertion/removal. Please ask if in doubt. Dr. McLean teaches medical students and routinely participates in forms of continuing professional development. Dr McLean is kept busy with his family when not at work, and enjoy gardening (flowers, native bees and fruit trees), the trombone and jazz music. A keen chess player, he organises a Brisbane chess club. |
Dr Kate Lawrence
Dr Lawrence graduated from the University of Wollongong in 2018. Since graduation she has worked at the Gold Coast University Hospital, the Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital, Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital and a number of regional locations. Dr Lawrence completed her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practice in Jan 2023.
Dr Lawrence is interested in all aspects of General Practice, specifically chronic disease management, women's health and skin cancer medicine. Before completing her medical training, Dr Lawrence worked as an Occupational Therapist in Central Queensland. On her time off, she enjoys the outdoors and spending time with her family (husband, son and dog). |
